Working American members in Greensboro, North Carolina, took action against a State Senate Republican-led plan to disenfranchise local voters.
The bill, proposed by state Republicans divides communities’ representation and would remove at-large representation for the citizens. Local city leaders have called the plan an attempt to “to diminish the voice of the citizens of Greensboro”.
Working America members gathered at a City Council hearing about the measure. There was standing-room only inside the chamber and 75 additional folks gathered in the lobby. Our member G.K. spoke beautifully about our call for transparency in state government.
